the deal was to get to go for free on your birthday. the $69 giftcard was for those who didnt want to free ticket. so its not Disneylands fault that you have a pass with blockout dates, considering you could have gotten into disneyland for free that day since it was blocked out for you. you cant expect to get in for free plus get a $69 giftcard.

I, for one, am glad that Brady MacDonald wrote this article because it shows that the Disneyland Resort stands by its policies. Brady accuses the resort of being unfair because people can’t control when their birthday is, but they offered his wife Nancy the same thing that they offer every single guest that comes on their birthday – Free Admission. It’s not the resort’s fault that Brady and his wife purchased Southern California Select passes and were blacked out that day, that’s like guests that come to Disneyland and get upset with Cast Members because it’s raining. As it is, the fact that a Gift Card is even offered is just a way of saying ‘Thank you’ to the local passholders that come on a regular basis.

It saddens me that a journalist exercises their “power” to smeer something just because they have exposure to the media, as if to say, “Oh yeah? Well I’ll show you Disneyland!” To Greg’s point, I went to Disneyland with my sister on her birthday, Oct. 7th and Cast Members literally went out of their way to say Happy Birthday to her, so it is definitely out-of-character that no one would have said it to her. Maybe it’s because they hadn’t made it into the park yet.

There will always be someone with something negative to say, and it’s always understandable to let them tell their side, but I’m sure that Brady and his wife Nancy have been to the park since and will continue to go for years to come.

Over the years we’ve seen the Disney Stores ahead of the curve, behind the curve, sold off, bought back, and now possibly rebooted. Between the long-term slowing of the economy and changes in shopping habits (spending less total, spending more online) I wonder if this plan will work. (I do wish the Disney company continued financial success, whatever they do.)
I have to also wonder if making the store a more playful, interactive destination will simply encourage the kinds of parents whom already see a mall and especially the Disney Store as a place to drop their children off while they shop elsewhere. Three especially clever children’s stores in our area (ZanyBrainy, to name one) recently went under after taking such an approach. There’s a fine line in retail between display/interactive spaces and merchandise: too much of the former and it’s treated as a playground, too much of the latter and it discourages customers from even visiting.

Dear Fellow Cast Members,

Here at the Disneyland Resort, I have had the pleasure of leading a talented and dedicated Cast. I have been humbled and honored during the past three years as I’ve watched your hard work create smiles and laughter, and delight our Guests. The power of Disney magic never ceases to amaze me, and your passion will always be a source of inspiration.

My decision to retire from the Walt Disney Company was not an easy decision; Disney has been my home for nearly three decades. As with any family, I’ve watched it grow and evolve. The past year also has been a time for growth and change in my own family.
One defining moment came when my wife and I moved our youngest son into his dorm at Stanford this fall. It was an opportunity to reflect on the past, and consider the next chapter of our own lives. I have had a long and rewarding career with the Walt Disney Company, and am excited to explore what’s next.

Disney has taken my family on an extraordinary ride around the world – from Orlando to Paris, Tokyo and Anaheim – and I have enjoyed every minute of it.

That’s odd, but makes a little sense to my twisted mind. The fact, according to writer at least, that no one wished her a happy birthday and the response he got when mentioning it seems out of character. I visit the park often and I hear happy birthday all day as castmembers wish their guests happy birthday.

After seeing the writer was a LA Times staff writer I wonder if the story was a setup. If they new the blackout policy and pushed the system. The LA Times have done far worse in their day, so who knows.

I recently ate at the Luck Dragon myself with John Dub. I LOVE Teriyaki Chicken bowls and while I certainly have had worse than what Disney is serving up here, I have had much better and many mom & pop stores.

I was surprised how many guests had trouble with the way the menu is laid out. I mean there is really only one thing to order, all you have to do is decide if what meat and what sauce. Not to hard, eh?

What John noticed is, unlike most restaurants who serve these types of meals, Disney does not marinate the meat, they just dump sauce on top. Unlike Danny’s experience, my “take out” box was full to the top, 3/4 rice, 1/8 veggies and 1/8 meat. The veggies were the type that leave much of their “juices” on your food which I did not like. The meat “chunks” were so large they were hard to eat with the chop sticks. I like to be able to pick up meat and rice at the same time, not possible here. I was full enough I did not finish the entire box of rice. I must say the rice was not bad and cooked well.

I am excited for the option of Asian food, but disappointed with the execution on Disney’s part. I only saw the previous Lucky Dragon open a few times when the park first opened and never had the chance to eat there. I would not recommend the Lucky Dragon at this time unless Disney gets there ducks in a row and improve the section. Based on what I am hearing, there are many mix feeling and reports on the quality of the food telling me they do not have the system down yet.

Thanks for the review! I’ve been getting more negative than positive on this place since it opened. I haven’t tried it yet but will be stopping by soon so that I can provide my own spin on it. The biggest deterrence so far is the size of the portions… =/

We were in the Magic Kingdom that day waiting for my husband and brother to join us from golfing. It took them almost two hours waiting for a bus at Pop, and then traveling to the MK. I am glad they found no problems and everyone was safe!

Chuck, its not ONLY minorities that are looking for handouts, thats what you want to see and thats ridiculous. The manager of the pool apologized because the news media shed light on him and the club he manages was getting some negative press. I dont think his apology was sincere, it was done to save face. The people running the pool should have known how many people can safely occupy the pool at any given time, so, the EXCUSE he is trying to use, saying he underestimated he amount of people that were coming , is a LOAD of bull. Where are the other 2 swim groups that had their pool passes revoked? A lawsuit is appropriate in this case. Mr. Perry is just being kind and is in no way sending the wrong message.

Thank you for letting me ventilate, first of all.
Now to make my Points. I feel that Tyler is an awesome talent and all of that and some more. But the real story is that Black People are neglecting their neighborhoods and their children. Meaning, where was a swimming pool in the Childrens’ neighborhood? Why did they have to rent (give their money to the white man) a pool out of their area? Where is the Black Man and Woman’s money to building their own recreational facility and where are the tax payer’s money going as not to have a pool in their neighborhood. I found this situation to be very alarming as it says that Black People are really suffering from Post Traumatic Slave Syndrome, bondage, disenfranchisement and the cry baby syndrome as well.
Next, are there no Black Recreational facilities, with pools that Tyler could have supported with his money?
I am sure his gift to these children will receive a response from Black Women as an apology for his betrayal of Black Women in such degrading manners.
To me, he has become like most entrepreneurs who have made a little more money than others. He has gotten out of touch with reality. His arrogance has overcome the realities that life will continue to teach you lessons that at any age we must learn and not run away from. Putting a band aid on any situation is not healing the wound. Our Black Brothers and Sisters need to all step up to the plate and REPRESENT, NOW. That includes the NAACP.

I’m as liberal as they come, and while I commend Perry for footing the bill, it does send the wrong message. Just cry racism kids and everything goes your way! That’s the problem with a lot (not all) of minorities in this country. They continue to expect a handout. This was a PRIVATE swim club and they had already kicked out two other groups that did not include minorities. It was not racially motivated, and even if some snide comments were made by individual members, just move on and accept the sincere apology given by the director. I don’t blame them for accepting Perry’s offer, but they also sued, which is absolutely ridiculous.

Racism was the swim facility telling the kids no because of “overcrowding” and concerns about “safety” – HEY People – the guy who is the manager SHOULD know how many people can safely be in the pool at any given time – excuse me but is that not his J O B – if there is overcrowding then how about a different time – special request for “private event” – the whole damn place just oozed hate and racism towards those kids – GOD BLESS TYLER PERRY – you are a person willing to stand up and say – this ain’t right – I have the money to help and let these kids know that not everyone out there is a….

I prevented a similar accident a couple of years ago. Our bus driver must have been at the end of his shift. Another Disney bus was in front of us and had come to a stop due to traffic. Our driver made no attempt to slow our bus until I started yelling “hey, hey, hey!!!” He snapped out of his stupor, hit the brakes, and swerved at the last minute, narrowly avoiding the bus that had stopped.

We went to this too. We bought what we normally would have gotten and some of it was on sale…so we saved some money. My only suggestion would be for the WOD to be more clear what was on sale and what wasn’t.

I went to this sale this past Saturday – got a nice free towel for being in the first 1000 there. Will I go next year? I’m not sure. I got a few nice things – but if Disney is listening, they should have put a LOT more items on sale – I was prepared to hand over a couple hundred bucks but only spent $80 because there just wasn’t that much to pick from; Disney could have done better and hopefully they will next year.

I’m in Australia and my family gave me D23 membership for Mother’s Day. It cost more because we are international subscribers, obviously. Never heard any more from them, so I went online yesterday to check tracking. The order was just sitting there without any activity so I sent a feedback form. Their feedback link was broken, so I emailed. The email was returned because the email address had been slightly changed. Finally got it off to the right address and heard back from them this morning. They said they hadn’t processed the order yet because they need me to ring a US-based 800 number to verify credit card info (and my credit card is actually US-based because we recently lived there). I am not sure what to do now. I emailed them back to reiterate that I’m not in the US and am waiting to hear back, but overall, I’m really disappointed in my whole experience with D23 so far. I would not have known that they weren’t processing my order if I hadn’t checked. We are repeat visitors to the Disneyland parks (been visiting since I was a child) and always love our time there, but my customer service experience this time around is abysmal.

Related to Disneyland specifically, there is also preferred seating available when booking specific Disney packages through your local Disney Travel Agency. While focused on Disney’s California Adventure, it still allows a great opportunity for kids to get up close and see a great show with an unrestricted view!
Preferred Seating at 3 shows in Disney’s California Adventure are:
–Jim Henson’s Muppet Vision 3D
— It’s Tough to Be a Bug!
— Hyperion Theatre Warning: Be aware of the 3D shows with smaller children as the effects may be slightly too intense for them. Definitely take advantage of the Hyperion Theatre though and see Aladdin because kids of all ages can appreciate it!

Really great show guys!! Two different points of view – Infants and Younger to Pre-teen kids and great tips offered on both sides. It was nice to hear Ray on again!!

You guys are so spoilt and you don’t even realise it… for a start.. the D23 membership in Aussie Dollars is around $170 once you add shipping and Tax… Add to that the fact that finding Disney art or collectibles of any kind is next to impossible down here, and that half the stuff on the website doesn’t ship internationally either…I was just glad to get SOMETHING… stop your winging.
