Upgraded ‘Great Moments With Mr. Lincoln’ returns to Disneyland

“Great Moments With Mr. Lincoln” returns to Disneyland on Friday after a five-year hiatus, Walt Disney Imagineering officials confirmed.

Since its debut at the 1964 World’s Fair in New York and subsequent Disneyland residence, the “Great Moments” show has undergone repeated story makeovers and audio-animatronic updates.

After an employee preview Thursday night, visitors to the Anaheim theme park will see a fifth-generation Lincoln figure with a rebooted storyline and remastered soundtrack that revert to the 1964 original.

Disney Imagineers have been laboring for 18 months to ensure the show returns during the 200th anniversary year of Abraham Lincoln’s birth (even if his bicentennial birthday was in February).

The Mach V Lincoln at Disneyland employs a hydraulic-powered body with an all-new electronic head featuring more subtle face movements and more flexible silicone skin that better absorbs and reflects light.
