During the 20th Anniversary Celebration at Disney’s Hollywood Studios the Imagineers were flipping through slides of the park. As they came near the end they came across a picture of the park’s full-size replica of Graumann’s Chinese Theater prior to it being blocked by the giant Sorcerer Mickey in 2000. Imagineer Bob Weis quickly commented, “And this is my favorite view of the Chinese Theater. You can’t get this view anymore. You may be aware of that. But I hope that we will get this view again some time soon.â€
The Disney fan-filled audience responded with applause. Imagineer Eric Jacobson followed the applause by joking, “I see there’s mixed opinions on that. I’ll be taking some names on the way out. We’ll have a little sign up sheet.â€
Later in the presentation, as they ran through photos of some recent major additions to the park, as the Imagineers got to the image of the Sorcerer Mickey Hat, they apparently said nothing and simply moved on to the next slide.
Does this mean the hat is leaving, moving or nothing happening at all? What do you want to happen? What do you think will happen?

Get rid of it! I have seen some great pictures with spotlights behind the hat, but I really loved the view down Hollywood Blvd with the Great Movie Ride at the end.

The Hat is great…BUT it belongs outside the park entrance where Disney can keep selling merchandise while NOT obstructing the Imagineers’ beautiful, unspoiled view.
It took a few years to convince the suits the Wand had outlived its useefulness. Maybe this icon has finally worn out its welcome, too.
