
The Themed Entertainment Association, an industry group, commissions an economic study every year to estimate the attendance to theme parks all over the world, including Disney parks.
The study shows that at an estimated 14.7 million visitors, Disneyland was the second-highest attended theme park in the world in 2008.
The American parks had a relatively bad fourth quarters in 2008, but the two Disney parks in Tokyo had a record year with an estimated 26.3 million — experts attribute that to the parks’ 25th anniversary promotions. The Walt Disney Co. licenses those Tokyo parks, but does not own them.
