Day one – Travel Day
As per a typical day of departure I woke up and once I regained consciousness it hits me I am going to Disney World! Up to the weekend before departure the weather had been spectacular, but of course weather had to be an issue on this escape from the grips of winter. I had a 1.5 hour delay right off the bat luckily I had scored a great deal on a Westjet direct flight so there were no missed transfers and the delay only eliminated any chance of getting to Boma at the Animal Kingdom Lodge. I cannot praise Westjet enough the delay was out of their hands due to a weather delay and not something preventable, they did everything to get us on the move. Great planes great on flight service and the Staff are top notch.
Upon arrival at Orlando MCO I proceeded to the to the B-side of the airport and descended to the bottom floor and to the Disney’s Magical Express (DME) desk and with in a minute of being served I was on my way to the appropriate motor coach. once the rest of the people from my plane made their way to the bus we were on our way.
Arrived at Pop and that was when I was greeted by the familiar smells and humidity I have come to expect and love. Immediately I was delighted to hear all the classic Christmas music and not the traditional per say but the fun spin on all the christmas music like Charlie brown Christmas music, songs from How the grinch stole christmas and other pop versions of the classics.
Once I was checked in I proceeded to my room and was delighted to find myself on the ground floor in building 3 room 3165Â a great location really close to the main Classic Hall, I am almost disappointed That I will be giving the room up after tonight to move to Port Orleans French Quarter …. well not really but this is a great room location.
Well since My Boma Plans had been squashed I proceeded to head to All things Pop food court and had one of my favorite dishes at this resort the Chicken Pene Alfredo. A nice big half breast of breaded chicken (Italian style) with pene noodle covered in an alfredo sauce with a bread stick. The only thing I could have changed about the meal was a few of the noodles were dried out a bit but i was eating at 10 pm and the traffic of food court wasn’t even remotely close the othe mid day traffic and this would not have even been an issue. the chicken was moist and fully cooked the crust was crispy and not greasy or oily. a good solid meal I would have anytime.
After dining i browsed the resort store and didn’t find anything to enticing so back to the room I went. Had a quick chat with Earl from Trapped on Vacation over the phone to see what some tentative plans for the week were. I decided to take advantage of the fact that I am flying solo until the morning I went out and took some video for the podcast of the resort and currently as I write this I am recording the different resort TV loops, top 7 english and spanish ( cause she is way hawt! ) and now the DVC propaganda.
Uh Oh it’s 2am! I need to crash Greg and Jimmy will be on the ground in under 5 hours and will be picking me up. So I guess that is it for Day One.
